About Aging Without Family

Aging Without Family began as an idea for a book and slowly morphed into this website.  In the process, it developed aspirations to be a communications hub and advocacy organization, though these remain aspirational.

Right now, I view AWF as a work-in-progress.  Your ideas and participation will determine its future.

When I bought the domain name AgingWithoutFamily, I debated between making it a dot-com or a dot-org.  (By the time dot.info occurred to me as a possibility, it was too late.) Dot-com seemed wrong because I’m not selling anything and my goal isn’t to make a profit.  But dot.org didn’t seem right either, because there wasn’t an ORG.  I chose dot.org because it comes closer to what this site may become.

This website could not have happened without the help of several people:

Vivian HarteVivian Harte wrote early drafts of many sections of this website and provided invaluable personal support and encouragement from the very beginning. Vivian teaches on-line courses in personal and spiritual growth, and offers guided meditations, music, and more from her website.

Paula Schlusberg, editor extraordinaire, answered my prayers and provided the tough love needed to get my grammar, punctuation, and most importantly, logic, in good working order.

Martha Retallic, Western Sky Communications, created this website, with assistance from Margie Matson, Marisa Design,.  Both went way beyond the call of duty in their efforts to get things the way I wanted them.

Laurie Kuzdal, Licensed Public Fiduciary and paralegal, helped shape my views on estate planning and planning for possible incapacity.
