Navigating Old Age On Your Own

Like many others, after I retired, I started thinking about the rest of my life. I found two streams of information about aging: one for “active adults” and one for family caregivers.

Beyond “active adulthood,” family members are expected to step in, make decisions and take responsibility. If you don’t have or don’t wish to depend on family, information is sparse and alternatives costly and unreliable.

Old people without family have no advocacy organization. When visible at all, they’re viewed with pity and condescension. Yet elders without family, or without family they want to depend on, are a rapidly growing population.

This website shares what I’ve learned about self-navigating old age. It’s time to take action on behalf of our future selves.
